Emphasis is placed on offering high quality lighting that is simple to operate, can coordinate well with room design while also contributing to the well-being of both patients and staff. It is believed that room lighting that conveys a functional, comforting feeling in a clinical environment contributes towards the healing process. Public areas such as corridors, stairways and lounge areas are meant to accommodate heavy traffic areas. Facility lighting should be bright enough for people to see clearly without being harsh and also help to create a comfortable atmosphere that resembles home.
